2026 Medicare Costs in Colorado
Every number that applies to your Medicare in 2026, in one place — plus the parts that are actually decided here in Colorado.
Most Medicare costs are federal. They are the same in Alamosa as they are in Atlanta, and they change every January. What differs by state is what you pay on top of them: your Medicare Advantage or Medigap premium, and how those are regulated where you live.
Here are the 2026 federal figures first, then the Colorado-specific part.
2026 Part A, Part B and Part D
Source: CMS 2026 Medicare Parts A & B Premiums and Deductibles, released November 14, 2025, and the 2026 Part D parameters.
| Item | 2026 amount |
|---|---|
| Part B standard premium | $202.90 / month |
| Part B annual deductible | $283 |
| Part A hospital deductible | $1,736 per benefit period |
| Part A coinsurance, days 61–90 | $434 / day |
| Part A coinsurance, lifetime reserve days | $868 / day |
| Skilled nursing coinsurance, days 21–100 | $217 / day |
| Part D maximum deductible | $615 |
| Part D out-of-pocket cap | $2,100 / year |
Most people pay no premium for Part A because they or a spouse worked 40 quarters. The Part D cap is the important one this year: once your out-of-pocket drug spending reaches $2,100, you pay $0 for covered drugs for the rest of the year.
2026 IRMAA tiers
Based on your 2024 tax return. Part D amounts are added to whatever your drug plan charges.
| Single filer (2024 MAGI) | Married filing jointly | Part B total / month | Part D surcharge / month |
|---|---|---|---|
| $109,000 or less | $218,000 or less | $202.90 | $0.00 |
| $109,001–$137,000 | $218,001–$274,000 | $284.10 | +$14.50 |
| $137,001–$171,000 | $274,001–$342,000 | $405.80 | +$37.40 |
| $171,001–$205,000 | $342,001–$410,000 | $527.50 | +$60.30 |
| $205,001–$499,999 | $410,001–$749,999 | $649.20 | +$83.20 |
| $500,000 or more | $750,000 or more | $689.90 | +$91.00 |
A one-time income event — selling a house or a business, a Roth conversion — can push you into a tier for a single year. If your income dropped because of a life-changing event such as retirement or the death of a spouse, you can appeal using Form SSA-44. More on IRMAA and how to appeal it →
What is actually decided in Colorado
The table above is the same nationwide. Two things are not:
- Your Medicare Advantage premium. Colorado has a large number of $0-premium plans in the Front Range counties, and plan availability is defined county by county — Denver, El Paso and Jefferson counties typically see the deepest menus, with fewer options in mountain and plains counties.
- Your Medigap premium. These are set by carrier and by rating area, and they are re-rated from year to year. Two people with identical Plan G coverage can pay very different amounts depending on where they live and when they enrolled.
If your Medigap premium jumped this year, ask us to re-shop it — carriers reprice differently, and moving Medigap policies generally requires answering health questions outside your original enrollment window, so it is worth comparing before you decide either way.
If these numbers are a stretch
Colorado runs Medicare Savings Programs through Health First Colorado that can pay your Part B premium outright, and in some cases your deductibles and coinsurance as well. If you qualify as a QMB, providers generally may not bill you for Medicare cost-sharing at all. Extra Help does the same for prescription costs.
Income and resource limits change annually, so rather than print figures that go stale we will check your current numbers with you. More on Colorado Medicaid and the Medicare Savings Programs →
